Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaning Technician
This course is for exhaust hood cleaning technicians. It is a hands-on training course that includes real-life examples and demonstrations of how to use the equipment, how to identify equipment components, and how to identify the hazards of faulty equipment. Students will receive a workbook during class to record notes. Included in the cost of the training, students will also receive Tyvek suits. The training follows NFPA 96 Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations and ANSI IKECA C10-2021 Standard for the Methodology for Cleaning Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Systems, 2nd Edition.

Students will learn the different types of cleaning equipment used for kitchen exhaust hoods including pressure washers, steam cleaners, and foam machines. Students will learn how to identify important components of the system including the exhaust fan, hinge kit, duct word, plenum, hood and filters. The hands-on training will also teach how to locate and clean access panels. Safety aspects of the course include understanding OSHA confined space guidance, lockout-tagout, personal protective equipment, respiratory safety, ladder safety, and recognizing potential hazards and unsafe conditions of the equipment. Fire Suppression Installation Course
This training is a five day course that covers everything related to installing fire suppression systems. It is designed after the NFPA 17A Standard for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems, and NFPA 96 Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations. Students receive hard copies of all the manufacturer’s design, and installation and maintenance manuals, including flash drives that contain copies of all the manuals. Students also receive a workbook to record their learning during the course.

Students can expect to learn the control head functions, detection lines, actuation cartridges, nozzle selection and setup, detection lines, gas valves, flushing, recharging, pull station, and liquid agents. Students will practice cutting and threading schedule 40 piping. Demonstration of the functions of electrical micro-switches for both the alarm system and fan will be given. Students will learn how to recharge adapters, build valve kits, regulators, and how to rebuild regulators in the event that they have been discharged. Finally, students will learn the 6 month, 1 year, 6 year, and 12 year maintenance protocols.

Students will receive the NFPA 17A manual, all the manuals for the top fire suppression systems, and manufacturer’s bulletins. The five day course will include refreshments, snacks, breakfast and lunch at the training center. Contact us today for more information.

Fire Suppression Inspection, Maintenance, and Recharging Course
This course features a three day hands-on learning session that covers NFPA 17A Standards for Wet Chemical Extinguishing Systems. Students will learn how to inspect, test, and maintain the commercial kitchen fire suppression systems of the top manufacturers on the market today. Students will learn how to complete the paperwork necessary to file documentation for the business owner.
